Happy New Year! Its a new year and we have a new home:) As many of you know we have been working on our new home for about a year. My inspiration for the new interior was blue porcelain vases (shocking) and the mountain scenery. We wanted to capture the views of the Tetons and the Valley and use the scenery as a large picture window – bringing the “outside” in.
We increased the windows in the living room and painted all the framing white so that the view is un obstructed.
We then painted the bookshelves white so that they blended into the walls and the items within the book shelves stood out a bit more as well as the painting above the fire-place. I added blue-white porcelain jars, silver picture frames, and a few of my favorite coffee table books to the bookshelves to keep them clean yet filled with things that I love.
The blue ottoman in the center of the room is one of my favorite pieces in our house. Its perfect for entertaining in that it has 2 trays that are removable and can serve hors d’oeuvres or be used to eat on if Clay and I are eating at home and watching a show. The outside of the ottoman is blue suede that is treated so that if something spills it is easily cleaned up (but I still freak about it:). On the outside of the suede are nail heads which are a theme throughout the house. They can be seen in each of the rooms in some way.
On either side of our couches we used small blue side tables – that have been treated to look a bit weathered – brings together more of the Jackson feel.
Hope you are inspired by some of the colors and textures.
Here are some more pics of the room.
